As revealed last year, CDISC aim to produce a 50th Jubilee Book for our Golden Jubilee in 2032. The book will feature team lists, stats, photos and stories from across the decades from our loyal players, administrators and supporters, and cover CDISC’s history, along with the regional clubs that existed prior including Manawatu Indian Sports Club, Wanganui Indians, and Manawatu/Wanganui Combined.
We’re honoured to have Associate Professor Geoff Watson as the Author of our book, who brings a deep understanding of sport, a strong connection to our region, and ties with many of our club members.
A Book Committee has been formed and planning is well under way. We aim to begin holding interviews starting with those involved in the early days of the Manawatu and Wanganui Indians, and Manawatu/Wanganui Combined eras, and then moving through the decades as we progress further.
To help bring this book to life, we need your help! We’re calling on all past and present members, supporters, and families to dig through your archives for the following:
Photographs (digital and hard copies)
Past newsletters
Newspaper articles
Merchandise
Trophies and medals
Historical and notable stories
Contact details of those who will be able to tell us facts and stories about the past, and our previous clubs.
No matter the size, we would love to see what is out there for inclusion in the book. A record of all contributions will be kept and acknowledged in the final book.
For any items and information you would like share, please email our club at cd.isc@outlook.com.
This is a monumental project that will capture the teams, players, stories, legacy, spirit and camaraderie of CDISC for future generations. The process will take time, and we’re counting on your support to help make this book truly special.
Please feel free to forward this email, or advise of this project, to anyone outside of the club that may be able to assist in providing information.
